“Indeed, We Sent Against them a Furious Wind, on a Day of Unrelenting Misery.”

Allaah described the Wind that He sent as a punishment to the People of Ād: “(The people of) Ād (also) rejected (the truth). Then how (dreadful) was My Punishment and My Warnings! Indeed, We sent against them a furious wind, on a day of unrelenting misery. Plucking out people as if they were roots of palm-trees torn up (from the ground).” [54:18-20]
Al-Baghawī in his tafsīr said, “It would pluck them out and then fling them on their heads, snapping and crushing their necks.”

The Shaikh of Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said, “All the thoughts of disbelief and hypocrisy which cross the heart of a believer and which he hates and casts aside increase his īmān and certainty.”
