“It is reported that they refused to accept the rulings in the Tawrah due to how tough and weighty they were. So Allaah raised Mt. Ṭūr above their heads covering their encampment, which was a farsakh by a farsakh [a farsakh or ‘parasang’ is about 5.5 km] and they were told, ‘Either you accept what is in it or it will fall on you.’ So when they looked at the mountain each one of them fell into prostration on his left eyebrow while looking up at the mountain with his right eye scared that it would fall on them.”
Tafsīr ar-Rāzī.
And then, being cursed, they turned away again.
He is Closely Counting Every Single Thing They Do
November 1, 2023 § 2 Comments
Allaah said, “So do not be in haste against them ˹O Prophet˺, for indeed We are ˹closely˺ counting down their days.” [Maryam:84]
Aṭ-Ṭabarī said, “He عزّ ذكره is saying, ‘We only delay their destruction so that they can increase in sin. We are counting every single one of their deeds and adding them up—even the [very] breaths they take so that We can repay them for it all. And We have not left speeding up their destruction for any good that We have intended for them.’”

Ibn al-Qayyim mentions, “Ibn Isḥāq mentioned from ʿAbdullah ibn Abī Bakr who said, ‘Someone told me from [the Mother of the Believers, the Prophet’s ﷺ wife] Ṣafiyyah bint Ḥuyay that she said, ‘I was the most beloved of my father’s children to him and likewise to my uncle Abū Yāsir [both of whom were Jews]. When Allaah’s Messenger ﷺ came to Medinah they both went to him in the morning and later returned in the evening.
So I heard my uncle say to my father: ‘Is it him?’
He replied: ‘Yes, wallāhī.’
He said: ‘Do you recognise him and affirm it?’
He said: ‘Yes.’
He said: ‘So what do you feel about him?’
He said: ‘Enmity for him, wallāhī, as long as I live.’’
[Then Ibn al-Qayyim said] so this Nation under Allaah’s Wrath [الأمة الغضبية] is well-known of times old for its enmity to the Prophets.”

The Nation Under Allaah’s Wrath

Ibn al-Qayyim said, “The nation under Allaah’s Wrath, the Yahūd: liars, slanderers, betrayers, deceivers, tricksters, murderers of Prophets, consumers of the forbidden, of usury and bribes, having the most malicious conscience of all nations, the most defective of them in character, the furthest removed from mercy, the closest to punishment, their very habit is hatred and malice, their custom enmity and hostility, a house of magic, lies and deceit, they hold no sanctity for anyone who opposes their disbelief and denials even if a Prophet, they honour not the bonds of kinship or treaties with the believers, nor [even] does anyone who agrees with them get any rights or pity, there is no justice or fairness for anyone who goes along with them, no serenity or peace for anyone who mingles with them, no love of good towards someone who might utilise/employ them, nay—their most intellectual is the most vile, their most truthful the most fraudulent, the one having a sound breast among them—and far be it that such a person be found from or among them—is not a Jew in reality, the most distressed among creation, the darkest houses and the most rotten courtyards, the wildest in character, their greeting is a curse, meeting them is misfortune, their inner-garment is anger, and their outer hatred.”

“And ˹remember, O Prophet,˺ when your Lord declared that He would send against them others who would make them suffer terribly until the Day of Judgment. Indeed, your Lord is swift in punishment, but He is certainly All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” [Al-Aʿrāf:167]
Ibn ʿAbbās said, “He would send against them others who would make them suffer terribly …”—Muḥammad ﷺ and his Ummah all the way up until the Day of Judgement.”
