Uthaimeen on the Imaam’s Intonation During Recitation

Shaikh Uthaimeen, may Allaah have mercy on him, was asked, “Some mosque Imaams try to soften the people’s hearts and affect them by sometimes changing the tone/inflection of their voice during the Tarawih prayer and the Qunut supplication, what do you say about that?” So he replied, “If this action is done within the confines of the Legislation without being excessive then there is no harm in it but being excessive like not passing by a word in the Quraan except by making such intonations, then that is not fitting.”

48 Su’aal fis-Siyaam, p. 39.
