’Uthaimeen on Contentment

Shaikh ’Uthaimeen, may Allaah have mercy on him, said, “When a person is given contentment he will remain rich, at ease, not looking at others, and what proves this is the fact that part of the perfection of the pleasure of the inhabitants of Paradise is that, “No desire will they have to be removed therefrom,” [Kahf 18:108] the lowest of them in rank will not want to be removed from what he is in, and he will think that there is no one in Paradise who has been blessed more than him, and this is from Allaah’s blessings on a servant, [i.e.,] that he be granted the ability by Allaah to be content—whether that be concerning his residence, his clothes, his mount [i.e., transport], or children.

As for if contentment is removed from his heart, then he is a pauper [miskeen].”

Sharh Bulugh al-Maraam, vol. 5, p. 272.
