Seeking Allaah’s Intercession by Mentioning One’s State of Affairs

Shaikh ’Uthaimeen, may Allaah have mercy on him, said, “Seeking Allaah’s Intercession by [mentioning] one’s condition is allowed, an example of which is where Musa عليه الصلاة والسلام said, “My Lord! Indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need.” [Qasas 28:24] So when a person seeks Allaah’s Intercession through the condition he is in then that state [of his] is a cause for Allaah to show compassion towards him and [to also provide him with divine] providence.”

Sharh al-Kaafiyah ash-Shaafiyah, vol. 4, p. 533.
