“Ar-Rabee’ ibn Khuthaim said to his family, ‘Make some khabees [خبيص, a type of sweet dish made from dates and cooking fat] for me,’ so they did.

He then called a man who was mentally ill to come and eat with him, so Rabee’ started to feed him while that man was drivelling. So his family said to him, ‘We took it upon ourselves to make that dish and then you went and gave it to him? He doesn’t even know what he’s eating!’

So Rabee’ said, ‘But Allaah knows.’”
